Dr. Abasiama G. Akpan is an Ag. Head of Department of Computer Science and a Senior Lecturer in Department of Computer Science, School of Computing and Information Technology, Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA), Nigeria.  He is a seasoned academic with sound research and professional career demonstrating consistent success in Research and Development (R&D). He is a critical scholar focusing on ground – breaking researches. He had his higher education at the University of Calabar where he obtained his Bachelor degree (B.Sc) in Computer Science in 2001 followed by Masters degree (M.Sc) in Information Technology (Intelligent Systems), Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Information Systems at the National Open University of Nigeria in 2014 and 2016 respectively. He bagged his PhD degree in Computer Science (Information Systems Security) in 2022 from Ebonyi State University, Nigeria. Presently, he is pursuing a second PhD Degree in Cybersecurity at the Africa Centre of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning (ACETEL), Abuja, Nigeria. He is an Associate Fellow of the African Academics Network (AFAAN).

Brief Profile

Dr. Abasiama has over 80 research – based academic journal articles in local and international ranked journals with record of citations on Researchgate, Googlescholar and academia.edu. He has delivered several scholarly papers in conferences, seminars, and scientific workshops. Recently, he presented a ground – breaking research paper at the Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS), Abuja, 2023 on Smart, Secured and Sustainable Society. In 2024, he presented another research on Cloud – based vehicular AD – HOC network. He is a recipient of AIS Ephraim McLean Scholarship, Illinois, USA in the year 2021. An external advisor, EpochZero Outreach (Affiliate of African Union AI Continental Strategy). Dr. Abasiama is a reviewer/ editorial board member of Sunmes Integrated Academic Services (Bangladesh) and GL BAJAJ Institute of Technology & Management Conferences, Greater Noida (India). He is a proud member of respectable professional institutions including Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), International Association of Engineers (IAENG), International Computer Science and Engineering Society (ICSES), International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT), Internet Society Nigeria Chapter (ISOC), Association of Information Systems (AIS), West and Central African Research and Education Network (WACREN). Abasiama has been involved in numerous community services to the society.

His research interests include Intelligent Computing, Cyber security, Cyber Physical Systems, Artificial intelligence of Medical Things, Big data Analytics, Bioinformatics.
